I picked up some old Wheel Horse implements that are a small 3ph design. I plan to convert them to full 3ph so I can use them but I was wondering if there are any spec sheets available for a standard Cat-1 3ph? How far apart are the pins, how high to the top pin etc? Any help is appreciated! Big Ed

Tractor Supply Company's catalog describes them as follows:
CATEGORY 0
Tractors up to 20 horsepower
Top link pins: 5/8" diameter
Lift arm pins: 5/8" diameter
CATEGORY ONE
Tractors from 20-45 horsepower
Top link pins: 3/4" diameter
Lift arm pins: 7/8" diameter
CATEGORY TWO
Tractors from 55-65 to 90-95 horsepower
Top link pins: 1" diameter
Lift arm pins: 1-1/8" diameter
CATEGORY THREE
Tractors from 95-100 horsepower on up
Top link pins: 1-1/4" diameter
Lift arm pins: 1-7/16" diameter
Category 0 lift arms normally spread a little over 20" while category 1 lift arms normally spread a little over 26". So category 1 implements normally just won't fit on a category 0 hitch. However, a lot of larger tractors have both category 1 and 2 ball joints in the lift arms, and if you have a category 2 tractor, you can use bushings on the pins on category 1 implements, but you can't put category 2 implements on a tractor with a category 1 hitch.

ahhh... That clears up things a little. What I have is a Cat-0 4' rototiller and 5' finish mower. But they have 7/8" lower pins (like Cat-1). These lower pins are 20.5" apart and I am going to weld on some plates to make them 26" apart. My tractor is only 20hp so I think the implements will hold up fine (they are more rugged than most Cat-1 implements!). Thanks for the info! Has anyone else ever tried one of these conversions? When Bird mentions the amount of spread, I think he is referring to maximums. I have a cat. 1 hitch and routinely use an implement that is on the narrow side - a spread of only 20". As well as one on the wide side - 28". The point being, there is a lot of latitude on the sway chain adjustment. If you have 7/8" pins, I am sure your implements are cat. 1. I would be surprised if a cat. 0 machine would take a 5' mower. If you wanted to change the location of the mounts for ease of changeover so that you don't have to re-adjust the chains, there is nothing wrong with that in its own right.
Just one more point. It is my impression, and someone more knowledgeable should jump in if I am wrong, that machines with cat. 0 hitches often have PTOs that run at 1000 rpm. rather than 540 rpm. So, that is another issue to be aware of when converting cat. 0 implements to cat. 1. ....

Excellent point Norm, didn't think about the rpm spec. I haven't tried adjusting the drag links on the arms, will definitely try that first. The 5' mower is a rugger sucker, 400lbs probably. Couldn't imagine a smaller tractor pulling it. Maybe it is just a small Cat-1 hitch? I like the idea of having narrower arms anyhow, mine rub the tires pretty bad when on inclines with my 5' bush hog (26" arms).

Don't know about all Category 0 hitches, but I just looked at a small Case tractor yesterday (Model 235, I think) that a friend bought, it has a Cat 0 Woods finish mower on the back, and the PTO lever is labeled 540 RPM.
